Outpatient Nutrition

A registered dietitian (RD) is the most credible source for nutrition information. RDs are known as the “nutrition experts” who follow Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) guidelines to provide the most comprehensive and individualized care to improve health and quality of life. MNT includes a thorough nutrition assessment, planning and implementing a nutrition intervention using evidence-based nutrition guidelines, and monitoring and evaluating an individual’s progress over subsequent visits.

RDs must meet professional and educational requirements including the following:

Bachelor's degree with coursework approved by
the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  Complete an accredited, supervised practice
     program
  • Pass a national examination administered by
     the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  •
Complete continuing professional education
      requirements to maintain registration
