Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program

NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital offers one of the only multi-disciplinary Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Programs in Southern Westchester County. Upon physician referral, anyone who has had a heart attack, bypass surgery, angioplasty/stents, cardiac transplant, heart valve repair or replacement is eligible for the program. People who suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) can also take part in the program, including clients who have had lung transplants or are waiting for one.

The cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are medically supervised and take place in the hospital in a spacious and welcoming atmosphere. Most insurance plans pay for the monitored program that can last anywhere from 10 to 18 weeks. Typically, patients visit the rehab facility two to three times a week. After that, NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence offers a maintenance program that many rehab patients can participate in for as long as they wish.

Our board-certified cardiologists, pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, and registered nurses work together to help patients rebound from a cardiac or pulmonary event. For more information about the Cardiopulmonary program or to make a referral, call (914) 787-6000.
