Michael J. Fosina, MPH, FACHE
President and CEO
Thank you for choosing NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence. As our patient, we believe you deserve the very best care. Each staff member you will meet during your stay works in some way to ensure that your health is our first priority. Our goal is to treat you as family.
We have tried to anticipate some of the questions you may have as a patient. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask your physician, nurse, or any member of our staff.
We want you and your family to be as comfortable as possible.
In 1909 William Van Duzer Lawrence recognized the need for an outstanding community hospital after his son fell ill with appendicitis and had to be transported by baggage car to New York City. Following his son’s complete recovery, he purchased the land and donated the funds to build Lawrence.
NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital has grown into a 288-bed hospital with over 450 physicians and over 1,000 employees. We treat an average of 100 patients a day in our new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is our door to the community but behind it is a vast array of services including lab, radiology, surgery, critical care, maternity, oncology and rehabilitation.
NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence is accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital is licensed by the New York State Department of Health.
