Celebrate National Nutrition Month at NYP/Lawrence

A nutritious diet and regular exercise play a big role in preventing many health conditions and disease. That is why the professionals at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital are celebrating National Nutrition Month with a series of events to help educate the community about nutrition and healthy living. 
 

NEWYORK-PRESBYTERIAN/LAWRENCE HOSPITAL NUTRITION MONTH EVENTS

  • Lunch and Learn Presentations:  Learn how nutrition plays a role in your overall health and well-being while you enjoy a healthy lunch. All presentations are held in the lobby conference room from 12 to 1 PM. Space is limited. Please call 914-787-5000 to register.
    • Thursday, March 3: The New 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans: Thursday, March 
      • An in-depth discussion on the new guidelines, how they differ from previous guidelines, and why are they causing controversy.
    • Tuesday, March 15: Demystifying Food Myths
      • When it comes to eating healthy, it’s not always easy to separate fact from fiction. Are carbs bad for you? Does eating at night make you gain weight? Why does organic matter? If you want to learn the factual answers to these types of questions, this presentation is for you.
    • Tuesday, March 29: Experience a World of Healthy Flavors
      • Get your passports ready! Together we will travel a world of flavors. Learn how to transform your meals with new pairings of herbs and spices with old favorites.
  • Dinner with the Doctor Series: Cooking and Eating Your Way to a Healthy Heart 
    • Thursday, March 3: Anthony Mercando, MD, a cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group/Westchester, will explain and demonstrate how healthy eating can help reduce your risk for heart disease. For more information, call 914-787-5320.
  • Core4 Weight Loss Program: 
    • Tuesdays, March 1-May 17, 6-7 pm: If you are looking for a more intensive course on weight loss and wellness, consider registering for our 12-week weight loss and management program, Core4. During this 12-week program, NYP/Lawrence’s Registered Dietitian Katie Campbell will focus on boosting your overall health, relying on proven scientific methods to train you to improve your eating habits, lifestyle and activity choices – for good.
