Having your baby delivered at a hospital is much safer than at home or a birthing center, according to a new study. The study has been made public in The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, according to The New York Times. Those conducting the analysis found that no matter how they analyzed the numbers, children who were born outside of hospitals had an increased chance of dying.
For 18 years, lifelong Eastchester resident Jean Madsen has been volunteering at Lawrence Hospital Center. She is one of the millions of unsung heroes across the United States who seek out ways to help people in their communities. Madsen can be seen answering questions and greeting patients and visitors as they pass by the front desk in Lawrence's lobby.

On Tuesday, May 20th, between 11am and 1pm, Lawrence Hospital Center will be hosting its annual Stroke Awareness Day.

Lawrence Hospital Center is hosting its first ever Bloodless Medicine & Surgery and Blood Conservation Forum at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle on Saturday, April 5th.

Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville is highlighting the importance of making informed food choices during National Nutrition Month. This year's focus is on combining both taste and nutrition, because eating healthy doesn't have to mean eating bland, tasteless food.

Dietitians from LHC’s Food and Nutrition Services Department will be holding free Lunch and Learns in recognition of National Nutrition Month in March. “Enjoying the Taste of Eating Right” lectures will be held each week from Noon to 1 p.m. in either the Lobby Conference Room or Palmer Hall’s 3rd floor Conference Room. Lunch will also be provided.
Lawrence Hospital Center will be holding guided meditation sessions for those who have been diagnosed with cancer. The sessions will be held every fourth Thursday from 4-5 p.m. at Lawrence's Palmer Hall, 3rd floor conference room. The first session will be held on February 27th.
Bronxville, NY – Create Your Weight is a 10-week, multifaceted adult weight management program that is scientifically based. The class is taught by Registered Dietitian Katie Campbell who focuses on the three most important aspects for long term, successful weight loss: education, physical activity and behavior change.

Lawrence Hospital Center's cardiac program, which provides cutting-edge heart health solutions, is receiving high marks. The cardiology department just received full accreditation for performing adult transthoracic echocardiograms. Transthoracic echocardiograms, which are also called an “echo,” give medical professionals a non-invasive and highly accurate way to check on patients' heart health. This is done by moving a small instrument, called a transducer, over the outside of a patient's chest.

Bronxville, NY – After nearly seventy years of deals and unique offerings, Lawrence Hospital Center’s thrift shop, the Bargain Box will be closing its doors. “We are sad to lose the Bargain Box,” says Tracy Conte, Vice President at Lawrence Hospital Center. “It has been an institution here in the Village for 67 years and has had a great run. The decision to close was difficult for everyone involved, especially our volunteers, but everyone agreed the time has come.”
